1) Turnaround of Companies :
Based on ground changes, turning manufacturing units into high output establishments, streamlining distribution, better go-to-market strategy, creating operational excellence, effective planning tools for efficient Supply Chain System.
The real life example: At Bharti Teletech Ltd. the turnover has been raised from US$ 20million p.a.(2002) to US$600million p.a. (2007). To reach the objectives & the set goals, only internal available resources were utilized like: finance (working capital/cash flow), manpower (existing), and current available assets. Also cost optimization, bringing in PONC (price for non-conformance) & quality measurement checks initiated to minimize the cost and maximize the profitability, with the result it was fast growing. Neither external financial assistance nor any assistance from corporate availed.
It was a tough situation where Chinese had invaded the Indian Market with the telephones (corded/cordless) and at Bharti we took on the Chinese at our home and in other countries. Strategies and planning were drawn out clearly to win. We also challenged the Chinese in their home space by having participated in the Exhibitions held in Hong Kong & Taiwan. Though they have captured 90% of the global manufacturing capacity and were successful in acquiring major manufacturers around the world.
We took a strong step to fight back and won convincingly by introducing latest techniques of high productivity, Quality Management Tools, creating innovative high growth opportunities and curtailing wastage and reached economy of scale in both the Manufacturing unit at Ludhiana & Goa. With these initiatives we made ‘Beetel’ the largest manufacturing and selling brand Nationally and Internationally.
(The market share of ‘Beetel’ rose to 60% from 8% level. Under the leadership of Mr.Kapur, this has been the fastest growing organization in Manufacturing & Distribution Sector in India during the period 2002 – 2007. It becames one of the ‘largest manufacturers and sellers’ of the Corded Phones ‘in the Globe’).
